On July 28, 2025, the 4th International Agricultural Market and Trade Forum was grandly held at Tsinghua University in Beijing. Co-organized by the Department of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Tsinghua University, and Bank of China, this year’s forum brought together more than 270 distinguished guests, including senior officials from agricultural departments around the world, foreign envoys to China, representatives of international organizations, leading corporate executives, and renowned scholars. Mr. Peng Yizhong, Chairman of Shanghai Jianhang, and Ms. Guo Xiaoyu, Board Secretary, were invited to attend and joined with experts and elites from various sectors to discuss the risks, challenges, and development prospects facing the global market and trade in agricultural products.

The forum centered on the three key themes of “Risk, Resilience, and Cooperation,” offering in-depth analyses of how both traditional and non-traditional factors—such as extreme weather events, volatile trade policies, geopolitical conflicts, and biofuel mandates—intertwine to introduce uncertainty into the international agricultural products market. Participants concurred that despite the severity of these challenges, the global market has demonstrated strong resilience: overall supply remains robust, prices have stayed relatively stable, growth momentum continues, and market diversification is increasingly pronounced. Strengthening international policy coordination, deepening collaboration in scientific and technological innovation, and safeguarding the resilience and stability of industry and supply chains were identified as the crucial pathways to overcoming shared challenges and achieving sustainable development.

During keynote addresses and panel discussions, senior officials and economists from the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Ministry of Commerce, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the International Grains Council (IGC), the European Commission, and multiple embassies in Beijing—as well as industry leaders and representatives from financial institutions—shared cutting-edge insights and valuable experiences on core topics. These included the production and trade outlook for agricultural products in 2025 at both global and national levels, building supply-chain resilience, financial services innovation, and best practices for high-quality corporate development. At the forum, the Agricultural Trade Promotion Center of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs also officially released its “Global Agricultural Market and Trade 2025 Review of H1 and Outlook for H2,” providing an authoritative reference for the industry.

Chairman Peng Yizhong remarked, “Participating in this high-level international forum has been immensely rewarding. The discussions clearly mapped out the complex landscape and future trends of global agricultural trade, emphasizing the importance of international cooperation and technological empowerment. These insights align closely with our company’s strategic direction. We will closely study the forum’s profound findings, proactively assess risks and opportunities, and continuously optimize our business layout and cooperation strategies in related fields. We are committed to contributing to the resilience and stability of the global agricultural supply chain and to fostering high-quality development across the industry.”

The successful convening of this forum has provided a vital platform for promoting the sharing of market information, policy dialogue, and pragmatic cooperation in the global agricultural products sector. Through their active participation, Shanghai Jianhang’s leaders not only demonstrated our firm engagement in international industry dialogue and integration into the broader global agricultural trade landscape but also further strengthened and expanded our industry connections, injecting fresh momentum into our company’s continued development in the global agricultural products market and trade arena.
